ThreatsBy far, the biggest threat (and arguably the only threat) to tropical rainforests is human deforestation. Many trees and other plants are being cut down for uses in medicine, building and agriculture. Many animals and plant species become extinct due to deforestation, and it is even affecting the earth's climate and water absorption.

Human influenceDeforestation causes such a prevalent effect on our planet that more than 18 million acres of tropical rainforest are destroyed each year. In total, more than half of all the world's tropical rainforests are completely destroyed. Most of the changes that humans have made to tropical rainforests are completely irreversible. One simple way to prevent deforestation from occurring is to use less electricity or other consumables like palm oil or don't use wood that has been gathered using deforestation.
